A Short History
Sexbyfood was founded by Joran Greef in 2006, the Chinese Year of the Dog, International Year of Deserts and Desertification, and the 250th anniversary of the birth of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. After 7 months and 70,000 lines of code, Sexbyfood launched to the public at 7:01pm on the 7th July 2007. Sexbyfood shares a birthday with Ringo Starr.

What are the benefits of being a Sexbyfood Associate?
As a Sexbyfood Associate you can enhance your website content by linking to relevant content on Sexbyfood and earn a share of any honored Internet reservations made by your website visitors as a result.
Does it cost anything to become a Sexbyfood Associate?
There is no charge to join the Sexbyfood Associate program. There is also no minimum quota required before you start earning referral fees.
How does Sexbyfood track my referrals?
Any link (that includes your Associate ID) to any page on Sexbyfood, can be tracked by Sexbyfood. A referral fee will be set aside for you for the first honored Internet reservation made by your visitor within 24 hours as a result of your referral.
How can I see my referral earnings?
Your referral earnings can be viewed in the Associates section of your Account.
How will I be paid?
You can receive payment in the form of cash or Sexbyfood Reward Points by requesting a withdrawal in the Associates section of your Account. Due to transfer costs, a minimum balance of 100 referrals is required to request a cash payment.
Can I link to Sexbyfood from more than one website?
Of course. Associate referrals are tracked for each Associate ID regardless of the source website. Should you wish to distinguish your various website referrals, you can create a separate user account and Associate ID for each website.
Can I join the Sexbyfood Associate program if my restaurant is on Sexbyfood?
Certainly. You can earn referral fees on any traffic directed from your website to any restaurant on Sexbyfood, including your own restaurant.

Terms
Sexbyfood users may join the Sexbyfood Associates program to earn a fee on honored Internet reservation referrals. Any involvement in the Sexbyfood Associates program is bound by the Sexbyfood terms of service plus the following specific terms:
- Sexbyfood reserves the right at any time to modify or discontinue, temporarily or permanently, your access to the Sexbyfood Associates program (or any part thereof) with or without notice.
- Referral fees can only be earned on honored Internet reservations placed through Sexbyfood or through the Sexbyfood API. The value of the referral fee earned will be 12.5% of the value of the honored Internet reservation. The value of the honored Internet reservation depends on the currency assigned by Sexbyfood to the country of the restaurant for which the reservation is made. The value of referral fees earned on reservations for restaurants in countries other than South Africa may further be subject to exchange rate fluctuations.
- You will only be eligible for a referral fee on an Internet reservation placed by your website visitor through Sexbyfood, where your visitor clicks a link from your website to Sexbyfood, places a reservation within 24 hours of the initial click-through, and honors the reservation. To permit accurate tracking, reporting and fee accrual, you must ensure that the referral links from your website to Sexbyfood are properly formatted.
- You expressly understand and agree that Sexbyfood shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential or exemplary damages, including but not limited to, damages for loss of profits, goodwill, use, data or other intangible losses (even if Sexbyfood has been advised of the possibility of such damages), resulting from your involvement in the Sexbyfood Associates program.

API Protocol
The Sexbyfood API at http://www.sexbyfood.com/api/ enables access to specific Sexbyfood resources, each of which can be referred to by a uniform resource identifier or URI. Sexbyfood resources can be manipulated over HTTP using the verbs GET, POST, PUT and DELETE. Resources can be exchanged as either JSON or XML representations. In other words, the Sexbyfood API is based on the REST architectural style.
Authentication
When you use the Sexbyfood API you have access to everything that your Sexbyfood user account has access to. Your Sexbyfood API authentication credentials:

The Sexbyfood API authenticates using HTTP Basic Authentication. You must include an Authorization header in every request to the Sexbyfood API. This consists of your API ID, a UTC timestamp and a hex MD5 hash of the UTC timestamp and your Authentication Token:

Reading Resources
To read a resource, perform a GET on the resource URI. The response to a successful resource read is the requested resource represented in your requested format and an HTTP status code header of '200 OK'.
Creating Resources
To create a resource, perform a POST on the URI of the resource to be created and include the new resource in the body of your request. The response to a successful resource creation is the created resource represented in your requested format and an HTTP status code header of '201 CREATED'.
Updating Resources
To update a resource, perform a PUT on the URI of the resource you want to update and include the updated resource in the body of your request. To perform a PUT on a resource URI, perform a POST on the resource URI and set the method override header as 'X-HTTP-Method-Override: PUT'. The response to a successful resource update is the updated resource represented in your requested format and an HTTP status code header of '200 OK'.
Deleting Resources
To delete a resource, perform a DELETE on the URI of the resource you want to delete. To perform a DELETE on a resource URI, perform a POST on the resource URI and set the method override header as 'X-HTTP-Method-Override: DELETE'. The response to a successful resource delete is an HTTP status code header of '200 OK'.
Content Negotiation
The Sexbyfood API uses content negotation to exchange resources as either JSON or XML representations. To indicate which representation you wish to exchange, specify an 'Accept' HTTP header for GET requests and a 'Content-Type' HTTP header for POST and PUT requests. The relevant MIME media-type to include in your header is 'application/json' for JSON or 'application/xml' for XML.
Content Encoding
The Sexbyfood API expects data to be UTF-8 encoded. Checks are made for valid UTF-8 sequences. If an invalid sequence is found, the data is presumed to be ISO-8859-1 and is converted accordingly to UTF-8.
Error Handling
The response to a failed resource request is an HTTP status code header of either: 400 Bad Request, 401 Unauthorized, 404 Not Found, 405 Method Not Allowed, 415 Unsupported Media Type or 500 Internal Server Error. A '400 Bad Request' response is accompanied with a custom 'X-Error-Message' header to indicate errors in the request. The 'X-Error-Message' header is designed to be end-user friendly. A '500 Internal Server Error' response indicates an error internal to Sexbyfood. Please contact us at info@sexbyfood.com should such an error persist or should you wish to receive error messages in Cantonese.
AJAX And Cross-Domain Requests
The Sexbyfood API is designed to be AJAX friendly. We recommend that you use the excellent cross-browser Prototype Javascript library when making AJAX calls to the Sexbyfood API. Prototype provides helpers for AJAX requests, JSON and custom headers. We further recommend that you use our Javascript serialize method when serializing your HTML forms to JSON as it has support for nested HTML form elements. or security reasons, AJAX requests can only be made to URLs of the same protocol, host and port as the page containing the AJAX request. To access the Sexbyfood API through AJAX you need to install a proxy on your web server. A proxy can be a single line in your Apache .htaccess file or a server-side script. Instead of making your AJAX request to the Sexbyfood API, make your AJAX request to your proxy. Your proxy passes the request onto the Sexbyfood API and then returns the response to your client application. Because the connection is made to your server, and the data comes back from your server, the browser has nothing to complain about.

To earn referral fees for referring honored Internet reservations, find out more about the Sexbyfood Associates program. You will receive a Sexbyfood Associate ID to identify you. Include your Sexbyfood Associate ID in each Sexbyfood API request where applicable to receive referral fees for honored Internet reservations referred by you.

How do I make a reservation?
Browse or search Sexbyfood for the right restaurant. At the top of each restaurant listing you will find an easy-to-use reservation form. From here it's only a matter of seconds.
Can I add special requests to a reservation?
You can add your special requests as a note when making your reservation. Your restaurant will try to accommodate you but please be aware that this may not always be possible.
Can I make reservations on behalf of others?
Yes, of course. When making a reservation using your Sexbyfood account you can specify your diner name and this need not be your own. You will also earn 100 Sexbyfood Reward Points for each reservation you make on behalf of others. Please ensure that your guests do arrive or that they cancel with the restaurant should they not be able to attend.
How do I view, change or cancel a reservation?
At present please refer to your confirmation email for details of your reservation or for cancelling your reservation. Please send us an email should you wish to make changes. We will launch a self-service section for this purpose soon.
What are Sexbyfood Reward Points?
You earn 100 Sexbyfood Reward Points for each reservation you make through Sexbyfood. Your Sexbyfood Reward Points do not expire and can be redeemed whenever you make a reservation through Sexbyfood in exchange for a discount on your bill. 1,000 Sexbyfood Reward Points are more or less worth a main course depending on the restaurant.
What is your no-show policy?
Should you make a reservation through Sexbyfood, fail to cancel your reservation and not arrive at the restaurant, your reservation will be assigned a no-show status. After 3 such no-shows your accumulated Sexbyfood Reward Points and Sexbyfood account may be cancelled. No-show status for a reservation is assigned by the restaurant. Should you feel that your reservation was incorrectly assigned a no-show status please email us with details of your reservation. We will put you in contact with the restaurateur to resolve the matter.
What is the secret behind Sexbyfood real-time reservations?
Sexbyfood integrates with restaurants in a variety of ways to ensure that your reservations can be placed in real-time. Restaurants can use Sexbyfood's easy-to-use reservations software, provide table allocations for certain days and hours and set table turn times and advance notice period requirements.
How late can I book a table?
How late you can book a table depends on the reservation hours of the restaurant you would like to book at. Restaurants may also require a notice of your reservation. This is generally 2 hours in advance on average.
How do I know that my reservation is confirmed?
When you book through Sexbyfood you will immediately receive a confirmation email of the details of your reservation. We will ensure that your restaurant has your reservation already.
Who reviews restaurants on Sexbyfood?
Restaurant reviews on Sexbyfood are written by the users of Sexbyfood. You can add a review to any restaurant and also rate or report other reviews. Highly rated reviews rise to the top and lowly-rated reviews sink to the bottom.

Sexbyfood supports most modern browsers including Safari, Chrome, Firefox and Internet Explorer 7. For performance reasons, we do not recommend Internet Explorer 7. Sexbyfood does not support Internet Explorer 6 or Opera. If you experience problems with Sexbyfood, please consider upgrading your browser. If you are still experiencing problems after an upgrade, please let us know.

We're great fans of Safari, a free browser developed by Apple. Safari is arguably the fastest, most innovative and easiest-to-use browser. Safari is available for both Mac and Windows. Safari executes JavaScript up to 4.5 times faster than Firefox 2 and up to 5 times faster than Opera 9. Safari is the fastest browser on the Windows platform in terms of initial data loading over the Internet. Safari was the first browser to pass the Acid 2 test and continues to support the latest web standards. Apple's iPhone uses a version of the Safari browser known as MobileSafari and Chrome shares the same source code as Safari. When faced with a cross-browser issue in developing Sexbyfood, our priority is to optimize for Safari.
What can I do if my browser denies access to Sexbyfood?
Please contact your IT administrator and ask for Sexbyfood to be added to the network router white-list or else for the word "sex" to be removed from the network router black-list.
Why can I not sign in to Sexbyfood?

How do I make a reservation?
Browse or search Sexbyfood for the right restaurant. At the top of each restaurant listing you will find an easy-to-use reservation form. From here it's only a matter of seconds.
Can I add special requests to a reservation?
You can add your special requests as a note when making your reservation. Your restaurant will try to accommodate you but please be aware that this may not always be possible.
Can I make reservations on behalf of others?
Yes, of course. When making a reservation using your Sexbyfood account you can specify your diner name and this need not be your own. You will also earn 100 Sexbyfood Reward Points for each reservation you make on behalf of others.
Be careful that your guests do arrive or at least cancel with the restaurant should they not be able to attend. Otherwise your reservation will be assigned a no-show status and after 3 such no-shows you may stand to lose your Sexbyfood Reward Points and have your Sexbyfood account deactivated.
How do I view, change or cancel a reservation?
At present please refer to your confirmation email for details of your reservation or for cancelling your reservation. Please send us an email should you wish to make changes. We will launch a self-service section for this purpose soon.
What are Sexbyfood Reward Points?
You earn 100 Sexbyfood Reward Points for each reservation you make through Sexbyfood. Your Sexbyfood Reward Points do not expire and can be redeemed whenever you make a reservation through Sexbyfood in exchange for a discount on your bill. 1,000 Sexbyfood Reward Points are more or less worth a main course depending on the restaurant.
What is your no-show policy?
Should you make a reservation through Sexbyfood, fail to cancel your reservation and not arrive at the restaurant, your reservation will be assigned a no-show status. After 3 such no-shows your accumulated Sexbyfood Reward Points and Sexbyfood account may be cancelled.
No-show status for a reservation is assigned by the restaurant. Should you feel that your reservation was incorrectly assigned a no-show status please email us with details of your reservation. We will put you in contact with the restaurateur to resolve the matter.
What is the secret behind Sexbyfood real-time reservations?
Sexbyfood integrates with restaurants in a variety of ways to ensure that your reservations can be placed in real-time. Restaurants can use Sexbyfood's easy-to-use reservations software, provide table allocations for certain days and hours and set table turn times and advance notice period requirements.
How late can I book a table?
How late you can book a table depends on the reservation hours of the restaurant you would like to book at. Restaurants may also require a notice of your reservation. This is generally 2 hours in advance on average.
How do I know that my reservation is confirmed?
When you book through Sexbyfood you will immediately receive a confirmation email of the details of your reservation. We will ensure that your restaurant has your reservation already.
Who reviews restaurants on Sexbyfood?
Restaurant reviews on Sexbyfood are written by the users of Sexbyfood. You can add a review to any restaurant and also rate or report other reviews. Highly rated reviews rise to the top and lowly-rated reviews sink to the bottom.

Sexbyfood restaurant reservations are instantly confirmed. Sexbyfood predicts real-time table availability according to how restaurants use Sexbyfood's reservations software to manage their reservations or provide table allocations.
To make a reservation, browse Sexbyfood for the right restaurant. You can search by restaurant name, location, cuisine or occasion. At the top of each restaurant listing is a reservation form. From here, your reservation is a few seconds away.
You can place reservations up to a couple minutes in advance depending on the restaurant. For each reservation a confirmation will be sent to your email address. You can also add special requests and book on behalf of others.

Sexbyfood Reward Points can be exchanged for discount at any Sexbyfood restaurant regardless of where they were earned. Postpay By Credit Card
Post-payment by credit card allows you to pay only after you accrue costs for software usage or reservation referrals. Your account will be activated as soon as you add your restaurant. Sexbyfood will charge you each time you accumulate a balance of more than R 160.
Prepay By Bank Transfer
Pre-payment by bank transfer allows you to pay in advance of software usage or reservation referrals. Sexbyfood will deduct charges from your prepaid balance as they accrue. Your account will be activated almost immediately after you add your restaurant and make your first minimum payment of at least R 160. Your account will continue to run as long as there are adequate funds in your account. To help you keep your account up to date, Sexbyfood will email you when your balance approaches zero.
Cancellation And Refunds
You can cancel your account at any time by sending an email to info@sexbyfood.com. If you do choose to cancel your account in the future you will never be charged again, but you will be responsible for charges incurred up until your cancellation. Sexbyfood will not issue a refund with respect to charges already incurred. Sexbyfood will not pro-rate fees for partial months.

What do we need in order to receive reservations from Sexbyfood?
You need to add your restaurant to Sexbyfood and you need to have access to your Internet and email at least once per day. You can use Sexbyfood on almost any computer. We do recommend that you upgrade your browser to Apple's Safari to get the best possible Sexbyfood experience.
Can we use Sexbyfood's reservations software for our existing reservations?
Yes. You can use Sexbyfood to manage your existing reservations and track your customer information. Sexbyfood is faster than the traditional reservations book and easier than the typical Excel reservations spreadsheet.
Can Sexbyfood help us to reduce cancellations and no-shows?

Decide Which Tables To Make Available For Reservations
You can decide which tables to make available for reservations. The more tables you add, the more reservations Sexbyfood can send to your restaurant. Add all your tables if you want to use the Sexbyfood reservation software for all your restaurant reservations. Sexbyfood reservations will only be allocated to tables where such tables are more than 66% utilized. For example, a reservation for 2 will not be seated at an 8-seater table.

Decide When Your Reservations Arrive
Only available dates, times, numbers of people and seating areas will be shown to customers. Choose and modify your reservation time brackets in accordance with your restaurant's needs.

- The maximum number of customers who could arrive at your restaurant in one hour.
